We never learn, do we ? In an industry where we have had such a fantastic year for writing in 2018 paving a way for more original content, here we are re-packaging a classic comedy with iconic characters like Michael Scott played by Steve Carell, Dwight Shcrute played by Rainn Wilson and Jim Halpert played by John Krasinski. Even though the American sitcom was a remake itself from its British counterpart with Ricky Gervais as Scott, they have both garnered a cult following through astute character studies and a satirical take on the small-office culture where Managers try to “motivate” their employees through laughable tactics that have nothing to do with their aspirations at all.
Even though the trailer seems like a faithful re-packaging of the Dunder Mifflin paper company with a very similar office setup, the characters don’t quite conform to a quintessential Indian office. Having said that, we may be making too much of it without a fair viewing. We would be waiting to see how the new Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute translate to their Indian versions.
